"Scouts group, tender mercies, and unexpected visitors"
Hola mi familia y Amigos!!!HOLY SMOKES McKay is in Switzerland!!!!! what!!???? That is CRAZY AWESOME!!! Wow!! What an adventure I bet he is having! and Papi yes I got the camera THANK YOU~ :) and tell ati I got her letter which I will be hopefully responding too next week:)
So this last week the VC was so busy! We had tour after tour almost all week long, but I wanted to write about my favorite experience. This group of 24 young men on a Scouts Trip came in to the VC and sister Cole and I were able to take them. At first they were awkward and really quite.. I don't know if its the whole missionary scene or what, but youth always get all quite, but once you get them talking and they see we are normal they loosen up and start sharing. By the time we arrived at the last video we wanted to show them the spirit was already really strong. We showed them "let us be men" a Mormon Message by Elder Christoffersen. When it ended we called on one of the Young men to share. He started crying as he told us it reminded him of his dad. That his mom was really sick and his dad would always take care of her. He told us that now he took care of his mom since his dad was gone and his mom said that he reminds her a lot of his father. He cried, the leaders all had tears in their eyes, and I was barely keeping it together. One of the leaders came up to us saying we were inspired on who we called on. But it wasnt us... I have no doubt it was because the spirit was there. It was something truly humbling to be apart of. So far on my mission I feel that is something I am really learning- How to recognize the Holy Ghost, how to receive persona revelation, and to act apon it. I am still working on it, but I am grateful for the role it plays not only here on the mission, but in all of our lives.
So originally we were scheduled to eat with the Delgado family on wednesday, but something strange happened where we had to cancel and reschedule for Friday. when we arrived to their home I knew something was wrong. As we ate dinner Hermana Delgado began to tell us how that morning her sister had died. It broke my heart to see her and her husband well up with tears. I cried with them as she told us how she felt. Sister Cole had read "beautiful mornings" from the last General Conference the morning before and pulled it out and we read it with them. We were able to talk with them and help them feel comfort and peace. It was a tender Mercy that we were even their, but I felt so humbled to able to be the lords servant in that moment and morn with those that morn and help bare their burdens. I am beginning to grasp what being a disciple of Jesus Christ really means. I am so grateful for the Restoration of Christ's church again on the earth and the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation we gain because of it. I know that the Delgado family can do her temple work and they will see her again. I can not fathom living a life where I did not know what we know and feel what we feel. This is true happiness. It can only be found within the arms of our Savior, living the standards he set, following the Gospel he established, and praying to receive our own witness of its truthfulness. I know it is true and I live it and I love it! I love being a missionary and witnessing the miracles that happen everyday as God touches peoples lives.
Oh and my unexpected visitor- Gabby Jessop and her Familia also stopped by and took me by surprise- Happy Birthday Gabby! Love you:)
