Familia y Amigos,
This week was probably one the quickest weeks yet!
Some of the non missionary focused activities we did were decorate eggs with some of the sisters. We also egg jousted! You run at each other with eggs and whose ever cracks loses... Oh and some of our friends in the Spanish ward told us next year we need to cut a part of an egg and empty the yoke and fill it with flour and then throw them at each other- It sounded really fun! I think I want to try it! it was really fun to hear about everyone’s Easter traditions.
I think one of my favorite things we did this week was take Primary children on tours. We took on Saturday in Spanish and one on Sunday in English. I was sadly surprised how many of the children did not know the real meaning of Easter, but don’t worry sister Stevens and I set them straight! One of my favorite moments was with the Spanish tour- we took them around the temple and sang primary songs about temples, being children of God, baptism, and how families can be together forever. It is incredible the spirit that can be felt through music.
I love children! This week we spent a lot of time with the Deseret children:) Kay who will be baptized next month- We found out the reason her parents wanted to wait for her to be baptized was so that he could receive the Melchizedek priesthood and confer her the Holy Ghost! Duh! Of course we want that! We wished we would have known early so we wouldn’t have felt so concerned for her.
On Sunday night we put on a last second Easter Fireside! We found out on Wednesday that the planned choir group had canceled. So we had 3 days about to plan a fireside and we did it! We came in early every night and put together some numbers and it turned out great! I have truly been spoiled to be blessed with the people of the La Cienega ward! Almost all of my "family" away from home was there to feel of the Easter spirit and support us sisters. Even my little Efrain came! We taught her the Sabbath Day Holy this last week and she said " i never knew!" She talked to her Boss and made sure she was at church on Sunday. She continues to amaze me every day with her increasing Faith and commitment to follow Christ.
We also taught Kay and Jessy (9 year old to be baptized soon) about tithing and Kay says oh okay! I will put my money to tithing instead of buying new dresses! I love children! As we left their home Jenny asked when we would see her again and I replied Sunday. She looked to her mom and said when is that- her mom said in 3 days! She continued to then giggle and shout Yay! Sometimes I wish we could all be as sweet and innocent as children. Maybe that’s why Christ taught that we should become as little children
I ate a lot of Mole this week.... I am coming to understand that I really don’t like Mexican food.... Where’s the American Mexican food? Apparently there is a big difference!
Oh and on a sad note... Trip our miracle last week... Turns out he just thought we were cute and adorable.... Won’t be teaching him soon I believe.... haha
This week we also had interviews with President Baker! He is a great leader and works so hard. He made me feel like I would be training someone soon which makes me nervous to think I won’t have Sister Stevens there to rely on.... I’m going to trust the Lord that He knows me better than myself and see what the future brings, but papi you are right I think I will miss her more than I expect. She really is the greatest!
We also went to see the Stars this P.day morning! I forgot how dirty, smelly, and crude that place is... Sometimes in the Visitors Center I feel like we live in a happy Bubble. As I listened to the conversations people were having around us they honestly did not seem happy.... I felt truly humbled to have the knowledge that I have- That there is sooo much more to life! and there really is a way to True Happiness and It is NOT found in the things of the World, but in the things of the Spirit- of Jesus Christ! I am so excited to listen to the Prophet and His Apostles speak to us this weekend! I dont think I fully appreciated what a privilege it is to have a prophet! that authority on the earth that directly communicates with God in our behalf! I know that If we prepare and are spiritually minded we can find questions to our answers and counsel that will better our lives! I Hope you all have a great week! Know I love and miss you all, but I am happy and busy doing the Lords Work!
LOVE YOU!
