APRIL 16, 2013 "Transfers and Good House Cleaning CHAMPIONS!"
Hola mi familia!!! first things first is PAPI thank you for the Beautiful conversion story! I absolutely loved it... I can’t believe I hadn’t heard it before. I am glad I asked:) And mom I sent home my heels.... hopefully they get there in 1 piece... and KRISTI! HAPPY BIRTHDAY THIS SUNDAY I LOVE YOU BABE! oh and ya papi they aren’t as crazy strict with all those rules..... It’s just a general guideline.... anyway... Mom if you ever happen to go to the mall... I wouldn’t mind some more of that pink face scrub and blush from clinic... Oh and mother’s day... ya 4:30 should work and we just call from our cell phones so no worries about charges papi. and ya we only get 40 minutes... :( I know, but rules are rules...
I am not too sure where to start for this week.. It was a crazy one that is for sure! Well we can start with transfers! Transfer announcement days are always very crazy especially in the VC! I will be honest and say after 7:30 not too many effective things happen in the VC! The announcement of who is getting moved to different areas and which companions usually gets sent by voicemail to our phones at 8:30... And 8:40 rolled around and we still had no voicemail message. There were 10 of us sisters pacing back and forth waiting for the message! Finally at 8:55 it came and we huddled around in a circle around the telephone and waited the nerve racking call. Last transfer only 1 person changed and this time almost everyone did! it was exciting to see everyone’s faces and the excitement at something new. No worries though Sister Stevens and I are still together looking forward to another 6 weeks in San Vicente! I had a moment where I thought I would be transferred. I love this area too much (it is also one of the only Spanish speaking areas) and there is too much work that i still need to do here. We did however lose the YSA English ward which now became its own area which is actually a good thing!
Another Highlight this week was that Sister Stevens and I won the Good housekeeping award!! Every month they check our apartments and pick 4 sets of companionships as the top winners and then chose the top winner out of the 4. The 4 companionships however get to have a lunch with President Baker and his wife! mom guess what we had: Pot Roast! I had been craving it! It reminded me of a typical Sunday Dinner... well except that it was with the President and not at home... Anyway we were the only sisters there and surprised to find we were the top winners! yay! so they gave us a certificate haha I will send photos.
We have a new investigator! It is our recent convert, Juanito's Nephew! "Ever" is 17 years old and has sat in on a few lessons but never seemed too interested... But we have already taught him twice this last week and he came to church on Sunday for the 3rd time. On our second lesson we showed up and we was drawing a picture of Christ- He is a really good artist! Anyway we are hoping to have an actual baptismal date soon... he was a little wary of committing to a specific date, but is loving the lessons and has started reading the Book of Mormon!
Another highlight for this week was Fernando’s baptism! He is another VC sister's investigators but I once went on exchanges to teach him and he often comes into the VC. He is Awesome! I was actually able to attend his baptism because we had one of our investigators going to see the baptism. Fernando had been so worried about whether this was the right path for him... but everything reaffirmed that it was. And I will never forget the beaming smile on his face as I congratulated him after his baptism. he was sooo happy and even happier was his sister and her family (the only other members in his family) She bore her testimony in tears and said she thought it was a dream! This Gospel is truly one of Change- Change always for the better and always that leads to greater happiness.
I also went on exchanges with sister Howell this week. We had a lot of fun and a lot of tender mercies from the Lord. We were able to teach a man from china who came in to the VC looking for a church. He said he walked 2 hours to the Largest Church he knew- the temple. We were able to teach him the whole restoration and get his information to send him the missionaries. We also taught another man from China when we got to church. He had been one of mine and sister Stevens Street Contacts! I could not recognize him, but he had a Book of Mormon with a sticky note on it with my name and sister Stevens. He had many questions and sister Howell and I were able to answer him and teach him more! He also came to sacrament meeting with us and the baptism! It was a day full of Miracles!
Well time is running as always, but I love you all and I am so grateful to have you in my life. While I miss you I know this is exactly where the Lord needs me! My life is a happy one because of My savior Jesus Christ and I can’t keep it to myself!
I know there is no greater thing in this life then coming to know our Savior Jesus Christ. I hope that after Conference you all made goals of how you can do just that and how you can help those around you do the same. I love you all and I will be emailing again on Monday!
