MAY 20, 2013 - "I LOVE SURPRISES!"
So This week was Incredible!!! It was one full of amazing Surprises...
I will start with the First... Not really a major one but it made my day. So our investigator EPY has been MIA for the last month or more.... She was the one who was GOLDEN and should have been baptized a long time ago but wanted to wait for her friend who was her fellow shipper to get back from her trip... anyway we have stopped by everyday and texted and called a lot of times... And this last week she finally texted us!! She said she loved us and was very sorry, but wants to meet again as soon as her divorce is over. She has been going through some really hard times. Anyway I was happy from her :)
Next one was a lot bigger.... I shook the hand of an Apostle of the Lord! Quentin L. Cook came and spoke to the Los Angeles Missionaries on Saturday morning:) It was an incredible experience and one I cant really put into words. One by one he shook all of our hands he liked to call it a "spiritual interview He told stories of his experiences as a general authority and shared other missionaries experiences, He counseled with us, gave us direction, and then he blessed us. I don't think I have experienced something like it before, but he blessed us. And he closed by bearing witness of Jesus Christ. The spirit in that room was incredible and tears rolled down my cheeks as he bore testimony of our savior Jesus Christ. I have no doubt he knows Christ lives and probably on a more personal level then i may ever understand, but I also recognized that I knew.. Not just a belief or a testimony, but I truly know I Savior Lives. He Loves us more than I believe we may ever comprehend! He is in the small and what may seem insignificant details of our lives. I want to thank Linda Brunisholtz for writing me a letter about her experiences with prayer. It reminded me that even the things that may not be super significant in the grand scheme of things are truly important to the Lord if they are important to us. I hope we can come to the Lord in all times... Not just in the greatest struggles, but in the little things and in the times of Joy. I feel so humbled to have heard Christ's Apostle speak this last week. He said he came in to the meeting with nothing really prepared and said he would follow the spirit. He said exactly what I needed to hear. There is immense power through the spirit. I set some goals to trust more in the Lord and to have more faith. He really is there prompting us every day... we just have to be willing and ready to listen!
Now our 3rd miracle!!!/ Surprise was when we went to Stake Conference this week for the Santa Monica 3rd stake we saw our investigator (the 9 year old) and her family. We love them! They have been the ones with the baptism on hold for over a month waiting to see about if her dad could confirm her... Well after the meeting (which was incredible and focused on change and becoming better... President baker spoke it was obviously amazing!) Anyway after the meeting they came up and said they have decided not to wait anymore and to just baptize her- that that was what was more important. And they want to baptize her this upcoming Sunday!!! So you betchya we are throwing together a baptism in a week:) we are very excited and happy for them!!! Yay for baptisms!!!
I just want to close quoting my mission president... He gave some really great remarks on Change and that the Lord has called us all to change... He was in a meeting with some general authorities where they spoke about how God is hastening the work! President Baker related the events in the past... Such as Mitt Romney running for president, the I am a Mormon campaign (If you don't have a mormon.org profile you should make one!), and even the Book of Mormon Musical has allowed more people than ever to become aware of the our church. He than related the prophetic announcement of the Age change where the missionary increase is incredible! when Elder Cook came he said that before the age change 2 apostles would assign missionaries and now they have 5-6 everyday working on assigning missionaries! Connect the Dots! More people now know about the Church, the increase in missionaries... whats the 3rd dot? God is Preparing people!!! President Baker called us all to change. We must do something different than we have been doing in the past. There is work to do all around us! I want to invite you mi familia to look for ways to be better to change:) Pray every night! Read your scriptures every night! Share your testimony! The Gospel is simple... Its really just about getting up and doing it. And when we do- Immediate blessings. God Promises to bless us as we change. :) To paraphrase what president baker said- when we change we are accessing the Atonement! The Covenants we have made give us the strength to continue to change- Don't fear Change rather embrace it! Change is the Vitality of Life that brings us closer to the Savior!
I know that this is true and everyday I am changing- for the better. I can see it:) I am happier as I strive to be more like the savior! I love you all and you are in my prayers!
p.s Kristi I LOVE your letter! I will write you soon I promise!
oh and one more - I Love my zone!!! today we played quittich for p.day! We love Harry Potter! yay for Zone Goals:) (papi thats the picture I sent you of us in a group it was after the games.)
