September 23, 2013 "Transfers are coming....".
Okay This week was jam packed busy.. As usual. So I am not sure why I am struggling to remember everything that happened this week.. But I promise it was great! Normally I take some notes on a sticky note of what I want to write about.. So sorry if this weeks comes out a bit jumbled. Okay so I will work backwards! Today for P.day we went with some of the VC sisters to a super cute 50s cafe and ate breakfast and played 4 in a row while we waited for our food. It was a lot of fun:)
Last night I was asked to translate again for the Charla Fogonera at the VC (Fireside). It was about the geographical evidences in mezo-America of the Book of Mormon... Sis Foutz said it wasn't as bad as I thought it was... but lets just say it didn't go as well as last weeks translation. It was form Spanish to English again, but the problem was she was using a large set of Geographical terms in Spanish and ancient Mayan names that I wasn't quite even sure how to repeat back to her in Spanish.. Anyway it was an adventure that I would rather not do again. When the Lord calls I'll answer even if its not the best.. Oh well though!
So this week we worked a lot again with Susanna and Narciso! It was Susi's B.day!!! We baked her some cupcakes and surprised her and sang to her! She look like she was in tears she was so happy. When I asked her which was her favorite Birthday she had she said this one. Apparently they don't really celebrate their birthdays. I also had a really humbling experience there. I love these people and see them as some of my best friends, but I often forget we grew up in completely different worlds. I asked Susi what was one of her dreams when she was little and she said she didn't really have one.. that they were too poor to think about anything but where the next meal would come from. It broke my heart and humbled me a bit. I am truly grateful for everything I am learning from these incredible people.
On her birthday night we ate dinner with them and had an incredible lesson! Narciso prayed and feels like he should be baptized!! But for some reason is really hesitating with the whole marriage thing.. Yes this sounds like this doesn't make a lot of sense, but we know his heart is in it. He comes to church every week, prays, reads in the Book of Mormon and the Bible, and is Living the Word of Wisdom now! He is working so hard, but just has some doubts he is working through. The best moment in the lesson was when Susi whips out 2 Nephi 31 and has Narciso read the scriptures about Baptism! I felt like a proud mom (I think, considering I have never been a mother.. ) Yesterday we fasted with Narciso about it and he felt that God answered his prayers and recognizes he has some pride he needs to work through, but that he wants to work hard to feel good about marriage and be baptized on October 13th! Yay!! I love them both sooo much!
We had a neat experience this week while we were contacting a less active! For Zone Conference President Weidman really emphasized working with our less actives so we headed out on a 45 minute excursion to find a less active to discover he had moved a year ago.. but we found a great potential and right before we got to our car we stopped and talked with a man leaving for work. And come to find out he was baptized in Guatemala! He is less active and wants to come to church! He didn't come this week because he had to work, but hopefully we will be meeting with him this week:) Obedience brings Blessings especially in following the counsel of your leaders:)
So I think the highlight of this week.. well along with setting a date for Sus/Nar was that we were able to attend the Temple!!! Such an incredible experience! I don't know if Mick or Meg if you will be able to watch the New vid. because its only in English right now and because you don't have a temple in either of your missions(I believe), but it was absolutely incredible!! I cried. It just made so much sense! I left the temple filled with so much hope and gratitude for Gods plan for us. I also was very aware of how much our Savior does truly love us. If you haven't been to the Temple recently and can go- I would advise you to do that:) Everyday Sister Foutz and I say we wish we could go back... We will just have to wait till December but that is okay with me. I am just extremely grateful to have one so close by... and not to mention I get to serve on Temple Grounds every day! What an incredible experience!
Well I love you all so very much! Transfers are next week.. So the future of my next 6 weeks will be revealed shortly... It will be slight Chaos in the VC this time next week.. haha. I love transfer time, but this time its got me a little on the edge of my seat... Pray that what ever happens that I feel good about it... I just love my family of San Vicente/La Cienega and I love sister Foutz. I do... The other sisters in the VC make fun us because were pretty much in Love ... well were a dream team at least! We have a great time and work hard and are best friends so it works out for us:) thanks for the prayers!
