September 2, 2013 "We Love Part Member Families!".
Hola mi familia!!! Week 2 of this transfer flew by again. It is getting increasingly harder to not have the days all blended together... Sister Foutz admitted-told me that I bought gas once on the Sabbath here.... WHAT!?? I cant seem to keep the days straight... But P.days are always a good way to break up the week. Usually Sundays do that for you but here with the VC schedule and running around crazy at church trying to set up appointments and talk to important people who don't answer their phones... It just blends right in with all the other days of the week. Don't worry I asked God for forgiveness though and we are squared away... I just wonder if anyone noticed on the car reports!
I thought McKays 3 ways of people avoiding missionaries were hysterical! The first two are totally applicable to LA as well although I haven't seen PDA being a way to avoid us. My favorite is when someone is kindly talking to us as we pet their dog and ask them about their day, but the moment we ask to share something or say we are Missionaries they turn cold and make up an excuse to leave or painfully stand their... Oh the joys of being out in the field. The VC is quite a different story. Its nice because people are coming to your side of the court and there isn't much they can do about it. Although yesterday we gave a tour to this well... slightly crazy women.. She went off and off in Spanish forever and sister Foutz and I were so frustrated, but the important thing is that by the end she felt something! and even began to cry... My favorite line was as she left the Special Witness room and said "acuérdense que fue aqui dónde yo crei!" "remember that it was here that I believed!" She committed to baptism so that's the positive, but we walked away quite exhausted haha.
We met quite a few times this week with Sus/Nar. Sus wants to get baptized and has quite drinking coffee. The one issue is the Law of Chastity... They aren't married and Nar committed to a date, but now wants to be sure its true before committing to a date or even committing to marriage... So keep them in your prayers please:) But the great thing is that Nar is really taking it seriously and sincerely wants to know. He said he knows Joseph Smith was a prophet and loves church he just hasn't received an answer about baptism and marriage.. But we have the faith that it will come! Answers will always come if we are living worthily and are willing to do the work:)
Daniel received the Holy Ghost and priesthood this week! It has been incredible to see how his and Aleydas lives have truly changed. We visited them this week and they sat down and told us about how they were doing and work and everything like they were my best friends. I never thought I could come to love these people so much. I could not be happier than seeing how happy he and Aleyda are and now how determined they are to help their family become active/ join the church! Its exciting:)
We love PMFs!
Speaking of which. they changed our area and now we have another member in our area whose husband isn't a member and we gave him a tour in the vc the other night. we are meeting with them this Friday so hopefully it all goes well!
Papi yes we do other fun things! For instance last week for P.day we went over to the Butler Apartment (where some of the VC sisters live) and made cookies and I made everyone dance! Modern dance though. I had everyone do a simple move or shape and made it into a dance and we all danced... My dream came true:) It was so fun! And this P.day we visited the Alley again! Sister Foutz and I had a blast in the Crazy Babylonian Latino culture.
Life here in the mission is fantastic! I love being in the Visitors Center, I Love San Vicente, I Love sister Foutz, I Love my calling as a VC Sister leader trainer, and I love that every night I fall asleep praying on my knees because I am so exhausted from doing the Lords work. There is no greater thing we could do than serve the Lord. I love my Savior and I am so grateful for him and all he has done for me and for the family he blessed me with.
I love you all!
