October 1, 2013 "The unheard of....".
Hola mi familia!!! So I am just going to jump right in! Mick I am glad you had a great Birthday and that the Fam Celebrated it!! This week was a crazy one! But lets start with the Big NEWS. .. TRANSFERS! Okay we met together outside the VC and had transfers announced to us. (this was literally 40 minutes ago.) Sister Foutz and I were nervous as ever. I literaly have been stressing maybe a little too much about it. Okay yes I have.. But first they called on Sister Foutz and she thought for sure she was going full field or something and they said "STAYING!" and then they said "Sister Lago... Leave.. your bags there because your STAYING!!!!!!!!" Did Sister Foutz and I scream and hug and almost cry.. Yes, Yes we did. We are so HAPPY! I am so happy that we will be able to continue to be apart of Sus/Nar's journey together and see them married and baptized (p.s Susi asked us to be her witness. I thought it was cute:) ). And I am so happy not to leave La Cienega yet. and I am sooo happy not to leave Sister Foutz. I feel so blessed so incredibley blessed. We are excited to work hard and double our numbers! We are so Excited for another transfer. Yes no one believed it when they heard it!
Also tomorrow is my "Hump Mark" I will have been out on my mission for 9 months. That is insane! Time really does go by so quickly. But what I cant believe is that I will have served atleast 10 half months in one area. That is crazy! I am so happy. Did I mention I am so happy..? Anyway back to what happened this week..
This week really such a great week! We had Zone Conference- Elder Richards a member of the 70 came and spoke to us. I was able to attend the morning leadership training and it was an answer to many prayers and questions I had. It is incredible how the spirit works and uplifts and prompts and teaches. I am so very excited for Conference and to hear the words of our prophet and our leaders- Direct counsel and direction from God through them! What a blessing!
Also we Narciso finally recieved his answer and said YES to marriage and BAPTISM! I think I said that earlier in the email, but we had such a powerful lesson with them. Sis Foutz and I felt so humbled to be apart of their journey. They dont want a big fiesta so they are planning to go get married this next week and baptized on the 13th! We are so happy for them. We really are going to be working hard to get new investigators this next transfer. We have a goal for 10:) As VC sisters we sometimes only spend about 24 hours in our area a week... So it will be hard, but we are up to the challenge!
I learned a powerful lesson in diligence this week as we taught our Less active. She said she wants to and has a desire to be in the Temple and do her families work, but something keeps her from coming to church or she doesn't feel well and sh e said she is praying for Gods Help. And I had fortunately studied Diligence that morning and was able to share a scripture with her from D&C about how God will not just give every think to us (D&C 58:26 and 27) We cant be lazy - we must do our part and be anxiously engaged! Anyway she said she would be at church on sunday to watch Conference;) I think working with Less Actives is one of my favorites.. Seeing them remember the joy that truly only come from embracing and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Something we learned in Zone Conference is that many people have Faith in Jesus Christ and Faith that he will bless them or help them or help them find hope, but what people are often missing is the 3rd part- Faith to act in Faith! This Gospel is one of Action and unless we are applying it and living it we forget the testimony that we have we forget the blessings the lord has given us.
Anyway I have to go, but I really love you all! I am so grateful for you prayers- we feel them every day! LOVE YOU!
Oh and we had a fun visitor come into the VC yesterday:)
