November 4, 2013 Miracle Factory and a Healing Ground
Hola mis amigos y Familia!! I want you all to know Email time is stressful time so don't be haten on my broski for his lack of Technology in Geneve! Really though Mick I am sorry about that email situation and cant wait in a year and half or so to hear what happened to the people you met who were Moroni and Lehi! Definitely a cliff hanger~
So this week was well tough on the investigator scale... We dropped 3 this week and sadly probably another 2 this week... I really pray and hope we don't have too, but the odds are looking slim. Our sweet Sus/Nar has been struggling with personal issues and financially. We spent some good time at their kitchen table with some tears in our eyes as we testified of Faith, patience, and diligence. They have been waiting to have enough money to be able to get married and in this waiting period time Satan has really been working on them. Progress is so essential in this Gospel! They are prepared to be baptized and have a great desire to do so, but have felt a little discouraged as trilas have come. We are blessed with wonderful members who took them under their wing and are helping them with the wedding needs and we are foreseeing a baptism here in these next several weeks:) So things are looking up:)
This week I felt incredibly grateful to be in a Visitor Center. I dont know if I have ever mentioned what a privilege and incredible joy it is to serve in a VC! It can be really stressful with the crazy schedule and limited time in our areas, but I love being here soo much! This week we had a miracle happen! So two months ago this guy Vidal came in with a member. Sis Foutz and I taught him the restoration and he wanted a Book of Mormon with missionaries so in the teaching center I was able to send him some... Well for some reason they never got there and I had a hard time getting ahold of him again, but the other day I was able to talk to him and he said he wanted to come to the VC again. So this last tuesday he drove the 45 minutes to the VC and Sis foutz and I taught him. We taught him about the Book of Mormon again and baptism. He was so sincere as he learned and wanted to make sure he understood. We were able to set a baptismal date with him for December 1st! I pray and hope those missionaries get there this week.. They are in our mission so if they dont I am going straight to the mission office and talking to someone in charge about it.. He is so prepared by the Lord! I think one of the greatest moments in the lesson was when he we asked him to say the closing prayer. He said he had never prayed before, but we taught him how and we knelt and he offered such a sincere and humble prayer. In his prayer he thanked God for leading him here and allowing him to feel something he had never felt in his life before. The spirit was so strong in that room. I was so incredibly grateful for the guidance of the spirit as we taught this humble man from Mexico. Something I am increasingly aware of is the guidance and influence of the Holy Ghost. We have to be worthy of it and when we are it has the power to work miracles, In us and in others.
Another unique opportunity we had was the Salt Lake came to our VC and filmed one of our programs and some of the media, but also did Interviews. we were able to sit in and listen to Recent Converts share their first experiences with the Gospel and what an impact the VC had on their conversion. They also interviewed a few of us sisters and Sister Foutz and I had the opportunity of sharing some miracles we have seen in the VC as well as testifying of the power and spirit we feel everyday as we serve here. The VC really is both a miracle factory and a healing ground. You have to listen to this story. It didnt happen to me but some other sisters. They gave a tour to a non member and a less active who were very rude and curt with them. They hardly were able to get a word in with them and they left pretty quickly, but who do you bet was back the very next day. Yes the Non Member! She was even a little upset/rude about it, but told the sisters she had to come back and she had fought the feeling, but that she was here and that they needed to teach her what the Book of Mormon was. Even though she was only here a few minutes she felt the spirit. She recognized something was different here. I think too often we take that for granted and don't realize the incredible blessing we have of having the restored Gospel and the companionship of the Holy Ghost!
Anyway I could go on and on about the miracles we see here, but I wont. Like Mckay I can tell you more when there is more time. I love you all soo much! Thank you for the prayers and support!
I LOVE YOU!
