(INVESTIGATOR'S NAMES HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO MAINTAIN ANONYMITY)
May 27, 2013
Bonjour tout le mond! :)
I sure hope you are all are having an amaing week! I sure am! Attaching pictures on here is so nuts. I've already wasted so much of my time trying to figure it out. and I couldn't preview the pictures before I sent them. So... I'm hoping they're good ones! ha. I might just have to give papi the memory card on thursday and have him send it back to me. But... Things are going great! The language is coming along slowly. We start teaching our second investigator TONIGHT actually. I'm stoked! So... my week mostly consisted of studying. Studying. and more studying. So... I'll skip those super exciting details and jump right to my favorite part of the week.. last night!
Sundays at the MTC are always a treat! But yesterday was exceptionally amazing! :) The devotionals are always looked forward to, and we never really know who's going to speak, or what they're going to speak about, but they never cease to amaze us. Yesterday was Stephen Allen (Director of the Missionary Department). He started by saying that he was planning on showing us all the new commercials the church had made, and we were going to have an awesome night of laughinig and spiritual messages. They had spent all last week setting up the tech crew to play all these videos, and everything was all set up. He then said, "as I was walking in here, I had an impression that we need to talk about something else.. I just don't know what it is, but then i heard them announce that you would all be watching Sister Monsons funeral tonight too, and I knew we needed to switch". He then said, "each of you take a minute to pray to heavenly father to help me know what you need to hear tonight" and we all did. He then began speaking 100% by the impressions he had. It was not only freaky and exciting to watch him pause and then say under his breath, "another impression" then change his train of thought. But it was remarkable to sit and see missionaries one by one burst into tears as he changed topics. My companion and I were one of those of course. haha. Elder Herring and I decided to pray to have him talk about personal worth as a missionary, and just as we said amen, he changed topics and said, "tech crew, can we cue up "splash?"" He then played a video about a little girl that was paralyzed from the waist-down that was on a swim team. Their relay team never ever won a race, but every time she swam, everyone was so happy. He then began to speak about how we should never ever compare our inadequacies to other's strengths, and that the Lord has trusted each of us individually with a certain population of his children. What a powerful moment. The best part was the end though. He threw the tech crew a curve ball and asked them to cue up a video of Mo-Tab singing "come come ye saints" and add the lyrics. We first watched it and dissected the lyrics. (you should all go read those sometime they're great!) but then we sang it again, but we sang it with them. There was nothing more powerful than that incredible moment as we all sang "all is well, all is well". We then had the opportunity to watch sister monsons funeral. I just love sitting in that HUGE room with all those thousands of missionaries because at the end when the choir sang "God be with you till we meet again" everyone in the congregation started singing it under their breath. I love being part of this army. We would back President Monson through ANYTHING! Really just a touching night.
In other news.. I LOVE singing in the choir. But yesterday we got an announcement, and through some research on lds.org. we figured out that on June 23. (The day of Kar's Farewell). The choir is singing at the mariot center at BYU for a missionary fireside for the new mission presidents leaving that week. We will be singing for President Monson, President Packer, and other apostles! Plus the entire month of June there will be apostles in and out of the MTC for the mission president trainings. I cannot wait to get to sing for the prophet!! Although.. seeing him in that video of the funeral was so hard to see.. He looked so flushed out and exhausted. I can't imagine what he's going through right now.
Anyway. I'm going to get off right now, and then use the second half of my time later tonight in case any of you answer me back today.. I love you all so much! Each of you, expect a hand written letter from me soon! :)
Love you! :) also.. while I'm in the mtc. Dear elders are SO MUCH better than e-mails. I haven't had any time to read any of the emails I got.. There's just no time..
I love you! I pray for you!
