Boy... there is not enough time to say what I want to say, and this swiss keyboard switched the y and z keys on the keyboard.. but here goes nothing.
WAHOO!!!! Salève Geneva! here goes nothing! Transfer number 1. I'm so excited! yes, my companion Elder Dieduksman is Dutch. He is the BEST. we work super hard, and yes, he does speak English, but I told him to try to speak only French with me. The area is absolutely amazing. There is nothing like it. I'm right next to the big river, but also right in the heart of the city. we run every morning along the river, and it's so surreal to me. it's like a movie or something. The language is pretty good. Everyone keeps complimenting me on my French abilities, but truthfully, they all have VERY different accents so I can understand people about half of the time. We don't have many amis at all right now so we've spent most of our time searching. It's exhausting work, but I've truly learned to love contacting! it's crazy every single time! I've spoken to people of all varieties. my first night we spoke to a man that was a "philosopher"... he apparently wrote some poem and put it on facebook, and some lady called him a philosopher so he continued to spend the next 20 minutes telling us about his theories. he believes that once we find our foundation that comes from our past, then we truly can find our future foundation, which in the end turns out to be our past foundation, and then somehow he tied it all into discharging our minds. I think he needs a little less alcohol in his system, idk. Then the other day we spoke to a man who claimed to be the literal son of the Holy Spirit. He also mentioned that he Michael the arch-angel, and that although Elvis was a Christian, we won't speak crazy because he shook our hand, and even though i'm 18, I should start smoking now because it will help my future health. Once again ladies and gentlemen, too much alcohol. We also talk to a TON of Africans. that "Grace a Dieu" they don't need the Gospel, and there are the Muslims. They are about 50 % of the people we talk to.. (well, except, we already have gotten really good at spotting them, so we tend to stay out of those conversations altogether.) As you can see, it is all crazy fun. :) There is not enough time in the day to do everything we want to do, but life moves forward. We are working our tails off in this picturesque place and floating on clouds all at the same time. I have some pictures, but for one reason or another, I'll have to post them next week. This first p-day wasn't quite as organized as one would have hoped.. It's so good to hear from you all! I thank you for the support! Pray for miracles, and they will come! At this point, we are in the praying stage! Love you all! -Elder Lago
