NEWS (INVESTIGATOR'S NAMES HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO MAINTAIN ANONYMITY)
JULY 22, 2013 "Miracles happen once in a while when you believe!"
Hola buenas tardes familia mia! yo creo que todos estan en europe ahorita... Menos yo.. oh well! Have a safe flight home! you all sounded like you had a ton of fun! So happy to see my meg happy! and that you got to see her! Mick you are always in my prayers I love you! Keep every pressing forward!
So this week was incredible! I have been praying and thinking a lot about our area. Probably because our new district leader asked us how is our baptismal numbers looking compared to in the past and I believe they are down so I have been a little stressed about how to get those up and wondering if we are doing everything we can to find those the lord has prepared. And this last week Sister Foutz and I talked and we are saying very sincere prayers, being exactly obedient, and exercising faith.
And we saw miracles. The 1st miracle of the week was when we went to do a follow appointment with a referral .. it went terrible he talked for 2 hours and I wanted to rip my eyeballs out.... Latinos can blab and blab sometimes... well a lot of people can actually .. anyway, but it was worth it because before the lesson we found this man talking to our referral. Lorenzo Alejandro. (still not sure which name to call him because every time he introduces himself differently.) He is golden. He said he had been attending a christian church in Las Vegas, but had to move back to Cali and was looking for a church to go too... He said he had actually heard about the Mormons and was intrested in coming to church. he has called us almost everyday this week updating us on his schedule and when is best to meet (he works a ton- like most latinos here). He called us yesterday and said he wants to be mormon. We are having our first real sit down lesson with him today! Pday it goes well~!
The 2nd was when we went to visit Aleda. (Daniel our investigators Girlfriend) Best knew yet! SHE got her divorce papers so now they can get married and he can be baptized!!! we are shooting for August 4th!!!!:) Yay!!!!!!!! He has been ready to be baptized for the last 3 weeks! So happy.
The 3rd miracle I want to write about is one we had last night. We were going to visit some potential investigators when we found two women talking in their front yard. we asked to share a message with them and one women called over her husband who is very religious. As we began talking the women weren't even listening. I felt prompted to start teaching the plan of salvation. The next thing I realize all three of them are starring and listen! actually listening! before you know it they have pulled up chairs and we teach a brief restoration and introduce them to the Book of Mormon. Susanna was the women who actually lived there and her friends stopped by- Angel y Norma. Susanna's husband had actually been in our potentials and we had talked to him once Months ago! He wasn't home at this time though. Anyway Susanna pipes up and says.. do you give like bible study classes? I would really like if you came by and taught me and my husband! My heart literally jumped out of my chest! I explained clearer what we do as missionaries and invited all three of them to meet. We gave them Books of Mormon and we are meeting with Susana and her husband on Wednesday and Norma and Angel on Sunday after they come to church! When we said a closing prayer the spirit was so strong and Susanna pointed to her heart and said she felt something like Hope. I hugged her and she proceeded to sob in my arms as I held her. She said this is what she has been looking for and that this is what she needs in her life. I walked away in tears with joy and gratitude. I felt the spirit of the Lord work through me as we testified of his Plan for us and the restoration. I have no doubt they felt the spirit that night. I walked away in complete gratitude for the blessing of the Lord in putting those three in our path. Now the only thing to do is pray and pray and pray that their follow up appointments happen. That is the hardest time period because the adversary works on them and they forget the spirit they felt. Its like with the Book of Mormon if we stop reading it we forget how important it is! So please pray for them that we can meet again... They have been so prepared by the Lord and are ready! like McKay said... Agency a missionaries worst nightmare yet Gods greatest gift to man! Well all we can do is Invite and Pray!!! and plant seeds and hope their is a good harvest!!!
This week was also full of fun laughter and an awesome hike with the VC sisters! I love being in LA I love the sisterhood of the vc I belong too and I love being a trainer and I love sister Foutz and I love this Gospel! How incredibly blessed I feel to be able to testify of my Savior Jesus Christ everyday and see how he touches the lives of others through us! IT is a privilege and a blessing!
