NEWS (INVESTIGATOR'S NAMES HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO MAINTAIN ANONYMITY)
Sunshine and Sand
I just got back from the beach and the sun has made me somewhat tired... But no complaints because it was so great! We spent Pday at the Beach! Its a CLAM tradition (California Los Angeles Mission) We had a ton of fun! It was a good thing it was slightly windy or the Ocean waves would have been a temptation!
So I hope that Kristi had a wonderful Birthday! ... Sorry about the Shoe mix up :/ I honestly can’t believe you are 14!!! Stop growing! I loved the pictures and you are to pretty. Mom don’t let her out of the house! haha Anyway I thought about you a lot yesterday! Wait McKay your farewell is this next week??? I am sorry I was never able to send you something about Faith! I thought I had at least two more weeks to write... Time is really flying! I was surprised to realize that this week is finals week for everyone over there. I wish you all good luck! And momma good luck with the Concert!!!!
So I was in a trio for a day on Wednesday! Sister Lameko from Samoa had her flight leave a little late so she spent the whole day with us at the Visitors Center. her First and last day as a VC sister! Apparently the Full field missionaries call us Princesses.... I haven’t been full field yet, but I could sort of understand that... I truly feel blessed to be in the Visitors center! The other day the last 30 minutes before close the VC was empty so Sister Stevens and I went into the theatre and watched a church video - we looked at each other and said we really have the best mission call ha ha. We see miracles happen every day, we are a part of a sisterhood and serve closely with so many incredible women, and we have the blessings of teaching with resources! I absolutely love it!
Speaking of VC miracles we had a few this last week. Coincidently we taught many people from France this week! I thought it was so neat because McKay you will be there shortly! I taught people like the people you will soon be teaching! Anyway one of them walked into the VC and said to the Senior Couples at the Desk that he wanted to be baptized! So we took him in the back and taught him. Apparently he had met a few times with missionaries in France and was here visiting family for a while. We taught him the next lesson and committed him to be baptized and are helping him get in touch with the missionaries where he is living!
Another one we had were these 4 kids that came in to do a school project on "Mormonism" They were here for 2 hours! We pretty much taught them all the lessons! They had some very great questions! only 1 out of the 4 had a Christian background- I didn’t hear this but apparently one of the girls said to the senior couples before she walked out that she had felt something while she was there- something different. I know without a doubt that she did. I hope she comes back and if not I know we were able to plant a seed in her heart.
We have a new investigator! Delfino had met with missionaries a while back and we were able to pick him back up. We taught him the whole restoration and he pretty much taught us! He has such a strong testimony of the Apostasy and of Joseph Smith! and He wants to be baptized! The only issue is that the mother of his child... that’s how he referred to her lives with him and I am assuming they arent married... but he has a strong desire to follow Christ and I know if there is a will there is way!
On Saturday we had all our appointments cancel so we went tracting for the Evening! Tracting is still not my favorite thing; we always see some crazy things and meet very strange people... I will let you know when we tract into someone who is really prepared!
I think I am beginning to really understand that the moments I am the most effective in teaching is when I am not stressed and I am truly concerned for our investigators needs. I feel as if I am learning to Trust in my Savior and especially the guidance of the Spirit more than I ever have had to before as well as I am learning to love people and truly listen to their concerns. The mission is teaching me a lot but more than anything my testimony of the Restoration of Christ’s church is strengthened every day! I am so grateful to be here and I am so grateful to have all of you in my life. I love you and you are all in my prayers!
