October 21, 2013 "Yes! Baptisms even in Hollywood"
Hola mi familia!! Perdon pero no tengo mucho tiempo hoy ... Pero a sido una semana increible! As for tender mercies I think I will just start with Tuesday. Tuesday was such a great day! We had interviews with President Weidman. He truly is so inspired and answered all of my questions I had and honestly made me feel like I am doing a good job and not failing. I have come to realize I often feel like a chicken running around with my head cut off between our area, the Vc, the teaching center, the vc sisters, and my own personal studies. I also realized we only ever have 1 day a week to do our full studies in our apartment! That is insane! Normal missionaries get at least 3 hours or so every morning to study, but because of our VC schedule that only ever happens on wednesdays for us... the rest of the time we have to try and find some time in the VC if its slow to get them in... wow! Anyway that was a random tangent on my stress level haha. I am really happy and doing great just some times I need a reminder from President that I am doing a good job:)
Well Wednesday we met with a referral, Luis. Luis is Awesome!! Sis Foutz and I applied our training we had about teaching really simply line by line and we taught in so much unity and in spanish! At the end of the lesson he said yes he wants to be baptized and will read the Book of Mormon! He has a date for Nov. 26th and we are meeting with him hopefully tomorrow. He was such a miracle!
Then on tuesday we went on exchanges. I was sent to Hollywood with sister Howell. Sister Foutz looked at me that morning and said this isnt really fair you arent going on exchanges you are going to have a slumber party with your best friend... This is only partially true! We had such a great time though, but not only that we saw some incredible miracles! Hollywood is really a different world people- let me tell you.. there are some interesting people there! But we had an incredible lesson with this actor who lives in a very very nice home.. anyway he was so interested and so in tune with the spirit. He was so excited to read in the Book of Mormon and said he would read and pray and that "he would go where the truth was" (this regarding baptism). The spirit was so strong in the room even though we had this crazy member with us... I think sometimes the member presents are half the adventure.. She may have started singing amazing grace in the middle of our next lesson. But it all worked out:)
So a funny story for the week.. Not super funny, but sister Foutz and I could not stop laughing. We ate dinner over at the Flores home and they gave us this dessert Mil Ojas.. anyway I kept throwing the dessert on the floor... it would not stick to my fork! Our members were laughing and sister Foutz kept trying to pick it up but right after I would spill more on the table or floor... It was a mess, but we enjoyed it!
So we met with.. EPY on saturday night. You all remember Epy right?? well we saw her again and she told us flat out that she still wants to be baptized and she knows the church is true and is going to talk to her boss about getting sundays off for church. That is the only thing holding her back and she said she wants to work for it again! So yay!!
We also had 3 investigators at church! We haven't beat our 2 record for a while so we were excited. Our new investigator Julio came and brought a friend! Those are the best kind of investigators :)
Something I am realizing is that the Lord really is preparing people and I feel so blessed that God is allowing us to find them and help them receive the restored Gospel! I have found so much joy in loving and serving others. It is the greatest kind of happiness we can find when we focus on our Savior and serve him with our whole heart mind might and strength and soul and whatever else you want to call it. I am so grateful to be here in LA and to serve in the VC it trully is the Happiest place on earth:) I love you all soo much! I have to run. Birthday surprises for sister Foutz:) LOVE you!!!
And Shout out to my Momma!! Have a great Birthday on THURSDAY!!! I will be thinking of you!
