"New friends, Goodbyes, and guess what? I am going to be a Mom"
Familia!! Y mis amigos! What a crazy week it has been! I was actually sick this week and it caused it to be a little bumpy... but I am all better now and ready for the new adventure that is ahead of me! Okay wait I am getting ahead of myself. So first off all of my familia is currently in Europe... Strange and even my bestie is too... Never thought that would happen! Hope you are all having fun:) Oh and Kristi I cant wait to get your letter!! and Justine I hope you love Spain as much as I do:) Oh and Papi tell Ati and Tio that I will get them a letter as soon as possible... These last few weeks have been a little hectic..
So my new friends I want to tell you all about. Mom don't panic, but yes they are all druggies and a little different, but they make for good conversation! Okay let me rewind. So while Sister Cole and I were tracting we stopped and talked to this guy and he was way not interested and he told us to go knock on his neighbors door who was religious. They were in the middle of something so we went upstairs to knock on another door... This is the tender mercy part of the story. So this Women mid twenties answers the door and says she has been actually looking for more religion or peace in her life and if we could give her a pamphlet because she didn't have much time, but I really needed to use the bathroom (convenient!) so I asked and she let us in and we taught her the whole restoration and hopefully we will be meeting with her this week! So then we as we leave all our "new friends" are outside and start talking to us. There are I believe 5 of them. They are neighbors and half of the them are in the band and they all have very different beliefs in religion. The one guy that was most interested in religion told us that he read the Book of Mormon but also studies the enemy too... so the satanic bible and such. He told me to read it, but I don't think I am going to take his advice.. Anyway then 4 days later we are back in the same area and our friend we first met who was not interested tells us to come over and talk with him and he gathers his neighbors and we talked with them for maybe an hour or so and taught the restoration... maybe not in a very organized manner because they each had a new question or opinion, but we taught Doctrine and in those moments I could feel the spirit and I knew what I said was true. And I thought to myself how amazing is that? these people are Gods children too and he really does love them! And I get to be one of his messengers and share that with them. I dont know if anything will come of it, but the truth is you never actually know- and hey we made some new friends! I think that has been one of the greatest things about my mission thus far is all the variety of people I get to meet. Every one has a story, every one needs to feel loved, and every single one of them is a child of God. I am so grateful for these experiences!
So Sister Cole is leaving tomorrow. It is sort of a bitter sweet thing. I love sister Cole so much and am so grateful to her and all the things she has taught me. We laughed and cried and did the lords work. It has been one of the best transfers yet! She is a true friend and has helped me in more ways than I can count! I will miss her, but I am excited for her as she enters the next chapter of her life! Going home is a strange thing on the mission... I am glad I still have a while!
So yes I am expecting.... That sounds weird, but that is what we say in mission lingo! Last Wednesday I got the call- Saying that I am training! Which means I am getting a new missionary fresh from the MTC as my new companion! It is either my friend 3trees from Oakcrest or the other sister who I have yet to meet... I actually met her mom a few months back when she came to visit.. Anyway I am really excited and nervous all at the same time. I will be meeting her tomorrow! We are still serving in San Vicente which I am SO happy about!!! I am praying I get to stay here longer :) Transfer 5 in San Vicente here I come!
Well my family I am loving being a missionary! It has its ups and downs and its own set of struggles, but there is nothing like serving the Lord and seeing the blessings of the Gospel bless others. About 2 hours ago this guy and his nephew came in. The guy was baptized when he was 22 and his nephew is a non member and grew up in a rough household. He had a few questions and Sister Coplan and I were the blessed ones who were able to show him around. (Sister Coplan and I are on splits while our companion sis Cole and Mueller are doing departing missionary things) It was such an incredible experience! We were able to teach him the whole restoration and he said he is going to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it to find out if it is all really true. He had a rough child hood at home- his parents split and he didn't have the best of friends... etc but through out it all he didn't lose his faith in Christ. He trusted in him and always prayed and saw that his life got better as he did that. He wants structure to help him have a better quality of life... and he believes that this church may be the way to find that structure. I was almost jumping off my seat I was so excited! YES YES!! This is the thing your looking for! It was such a tender mercy and one where the spirit was so strong! he accepted to having the missionaries come by and teach him and give him a book of Mormon. God is preparing people!! I am so grateful to serve in the Visitors Center where I get to be apart of miracles everyday! The Lord knows me better than I know myself apparently ) I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon! I see it shape my life everyday and change lives around me! If your not reading the Book of Mormon every day... (missionary in me.-) I Invite you to do so! God has given us the tools to know his plan and receive guidance all we have to do is be willing to find it and open our hearts to what is around us. Its all there we just have to be willing to put in the effort! Faith with out works is dead. Read the Book of Mormon! :) Its true as it is blue. Well my time is us- but I love you so much and am so grateful for you all in my life!!
