December 30, 2013 Christmas in the Visitor´s Center
What a fun day Christmas was to be able to talk and see all of you!!! and in your p.jays and all!!! And it was so fun to hear Mckay Speak FRENCH! CRAZY! Christmas Day was an amazing day! We were able to Skype, then we went and sang Carols at an old Folks home, had Christmas dinner, worked in the Visitors Center, and did a Christmas Concert at the Visitors Center. I know I already told you about Christmas Eve night where we all went into the back alley of the VC and broke a pinata! It was so much fun that I had to write it in my email! So because of Christmas our numbers didn't look so great because our investigators were busy but we had miracles happen in the Visitors Center and I felt and understood deeper than I have before the spirit of Christmas- the Spirit of Christ. So my VC miracle of the week was Violet! She had met some Elders on the street and they invited her to the Visitors Center and so she came! She had dated a Mormon before and had always been interested in attending church so I helped her find one and had the opportunity to answer her questions and teach her the restoration! She opened up to me about her struggles and trials she has been going through and the two of us cried right there in the Visitors Center. I shared with her a Book of Mormon and invited her to meet with missionaries- she said she would love that! She went to church on Sunday! I just got off the phone with her and she is reading and praying and planning to go to church this Sunday again. She is also coming to the VC tomorrow. I love her!
I also had another tender mercy in the Visitors Center this week. I saw these two women talking by the Temple panels. I went up to them and started talking with them. The one was a recent convert as of August and the other was her daughter who had been meeting with missionaries on and off. They told me about how their daughter/sister had died two weeks ago. Tears welled up in my eyes as I saw how strong they stood after going through such a hard time. The mother testified to me about the Plan of Salvation of which she had recently learned and expressed to me how excited she was to be baptized for her in the Temple. I was able to show them the rest of the pictures and explain what else we do in the Temple and how this will bless their family. All of us were in tears as we testified of the Plan of Salvation and the Power of the Atonement. The daughter opened up and cried about how hard it has been for them. I wasn't able to fix their problems or take away their pain, but I know they were comforted by the spirit of the Lord as I testified of Gods great love for them and of the Plan that he has for them and their family. It was truly a humbling experience.
This week I also talked in Church. It was the first time I was able to stand up in church and give a talk with out it scripted! I had some good notes and ideas and quotes, but I just talked! That has been one of my goals for the longest time to be able to do that and I did it! I know the Lord has helped me lots- probably all those tours to large groups in the VC and doing VC training every Thursday. As I practiced for Sister Evenson I cried. I shared my Conversion story and what missionary work means to me and I shared the experience about finding Susanna. It makes me tear up even when I just think about it, but I was able to get through the Talk with out a tear and I wasn't even really that nervous. It was even kind of fun~
I feel like This mish is shaping me an pushing me everyday. I am truly grateful for this experience. On Tuesday I hit my 1 year mark. Strange. I am stoked for these next 6 months to continue to be a representative of Jesus Christ and where his name under my family name :) Did you know the name tag originated from one of the Mission Presidents here in Los Angeles. He started it with his missionaries here and the church adapted it! I thought it was neat:)
Oh and For P.day today we went to the Ghetty Villa - a giant mansion which was turned into a roman/greek museum. and then we ate Titos tacos.. SO FUN. Pictures are to come!
I Love you all so much! Thank you for the sweet Gifts!! I was able to go back through them all and appreciate them! Justine and others I loved the outfit I wore it on Thursday and it looked great! Thanks so much! and papi the Chorizo is half gone. yes I shared. You should have seen Sis Abellan's reaction when I took her some of it and turron! She almost cried she was so happy. She is the one from Spain! Thanks for everything I love you so much! And I am truly grateful to the ward too! For the support and the sweet letters I got of encouragement and love! Thank you!
